Makcik Agony

My mommy bought me this shawl/ scarf from Robinson Sale. Typical, got sale only then buy, if not don't buy. OMG, I THINK I'M TURNING INTO MY MOTHER. And look how it matches the colour of my room. How disturbing. I insisted that she ensures the material is thin and not the thick pashmina kind. It's okay, just that it does the really bunched up thing at the front which suddenly looks to me like I'm wearing a bib.

Is it weird to prefer attending to other people's problems than my own? Not that I have any pressing problems to deal with at the moment. But, I'd really just rather hear out friends' dilemmas than have to face or think about my own. Whatever the situation might be, for anyone, anywhere, anytime, I am at your service. You can call Husna, your personal Aunt Agony. Or in my case, call me Makcik Agony.

All Dried Out

I look cock-eyed in this photo. This is Hana's hijab style on StyleCovered. I tried it out, easy to manage but I thought my cheeks look extra chubby (second photo). Still like it though, some sisters in the StyleCovered forum said it suits me.

I have this theory that every girl will go through hijabstyles after hijabstyles before finally finding one that most suits her. I think I found mine, or is it too soon? It's the one below this post, with the checkered scarf. BUT YOU KNOW WHAT! I went to granny's yesterday, and my aunt, my darling aunt, said that I looked like some terrorist in that patterned scarf. THANKS AH D:

Life's good. Tired, but good. Haven't had a day off from work since last week and it'll probably continue on till this coming week as long as I don't resettle into Esprit and have a proper schedule back on track.

My wallet is all dried up, so is my bank savings. Like seriously, parched. Problem is tis' the season for sales. And its so heartbreaking that I can't spend a single cent! Anyway, I'm chatting with Reggie Veggie now, and she says its snowing where she's at. SO COOL(literally)!

Desperado

Jobs with contracts are so troublesome. This is a lesson learnt, if your gut intertwine and tangles up like its telling you NOOO, listen to it. Don't be all Miss Desperate cos there's always something else somewhere. Wore this look out today, its the style I'm most comfortable with but I'm running out of scarves/ shawls!

I love the design and colour, but I don't particularly enjoy the material. It's thick pashmina shawl, meant to keep you warm. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Also, the thing about using a pashmina shawl is that it bunches up too much as shown. I look likes I'm hiding something.

The day would not be complete without a good deed done. Some people help the old lady to cross the street. I helped an old lady up the stairs. All 12 floors of it!

I reached the void deck and there were a couple of others waiting for the lift which was stuck on the 2nd floor. So we decided to take the stairs since it doesn't look like it was going to budge any time soon. The old lady lived on the same floor as mine, so I offered to carry her luggage(literally, idk what she had it for, thank goodness it was quite light!) while another friendly neighbour offered to take hold of her hand. Then, we climbed and panted our way up together-gether.

Nothing beats the old-type- no window, no fancy lighted up buttons, no irritating-woman voice, and no mirror- okay maybe the mirror is a rather good thing- cos it's way faster than the new ones which are 'upgraded'. Block upgrading may be a fancy facelift for the neighbourhood, and a sure way to garner votes- but it is so leceh and that is the inconvenient truth.

P.S.: I rechecked. My store is 22(husna)feet wide, not 24.

I have a current obsession with this checkered scarf bought from Far East Plaza. I'm having a bit of fun with my dressing nowadays, playing and wrapping scarfs around my head like there's no tomorrow.

I wasn't quite confident with this new selendang-style cause I thought it makes my cheeks look chubbier and my face even more round than it already is. But I played around with the look and found a way to have a 'sharp' mid point instead of a round one.

This is the same look pulled off without a hint of metal or pin on it. I swear. AMAZING RIGHT. Well I thought it was. It had to be because I left the pins in the morning in the toilet before I got to work. One thing good about the this type of scarf is that it is able to wrap itself around the head nicely and just stay there.

Fact of the day: The store I currently work at is 24(husna)feet wide.

School's Out

This is a little late, but here goes anyway. My days in uniforms are finally over. That's over 10 years in the exact same colour, skirt and blouse as every other person around you for 6 hours a day, 5 days in a week. We're breaking free!

It's not all fun and games though. People would naturally assume that you take on a job or some sort. It's a feast for recruitment agencies and cunning network marketing companies to lure sweet innocent children like me into a good paying temporary job complete with misguided information, only realised after contract is signed usually.
Same goes for me, spam companies with my loser resume but only one contacted me back. Amazingly, it took me less than 10mins to decide on what to wear for the interview and I thinking back, I think I went overboard with the dresscode, complete with the three-quarter sleeved tight fitting blazer and black heels. Even the taxi uncle who drove me all the way to Ang Moh Kio, knew immediately that I was going for an interview.

Since then, I got the job, not enjoying the people and environment that came with it and is soon quitting and going to another company! Oh well, the added benefits of being a part-timer. Despite all that, this job came with some lessons one of which is, even though I'm used to being alone, I know from eating Ya Kun Kaya Toast alone during lunch breaks, beside the Singapore River, that I feel absurdly lonely.

A Dual Concept

Back to Blogger. I was thinking of doing this on tumblr, but it's hard to post comments (critic) there so here we are. What is undertheheadgear?

It is an exploration of what I can do with my wardrobe while staying within the borders as a practicing, improving Muslimah. It is also about what's underneath the threads or helmet(once I get my bike license!)- of things that goes on in my brain.

It's a dual concept- what's on as well as in the head.
